Abstract The structure of a system for providing the dependability of domestic technics is offered. The system contains informational and scientific assurance, a professional training, working out of typical programs for reliability assurance of the goods,
preparation of standards. This system is one of key elements in effective system of quality. The basic directions of activity of technical committee TK BY 33 ″Dependability in technics″ created in Belarus are described. Objects for prime standardization are offered. Various treatments of the basic concepts in the field of reliability, presented in domestic, Russian and international standards are resulted. It is possible to name these treatments conditionally ″Engineering″ and ″Electrotechnical″. The Engineering approach believes that dependability is complex property which depending on purpose of object and its operational conditions. This one can include reliability, durability, maintainability and storability or certain combinations of these properties. According to electrotechnical approach, dependability is a collective term used to describe the availability performance and its influencing factors: reliability performance, maintainability performance and maintenance support performance. Similar distinction leads also to various approaches and methods of calculation of reliability of objects of technics. Therefore top priority is development of the state standards removing the specified duality of approaches.
